What we do

The Poetry Cooperative

The idea is to stimulate creative writing by a loosely collaborative process.  We pick a topic and a two-week period and people in the Cooperative can sign up and commit to write something. The writing can be poetry or narrative or any creative inspiration.

The topic is not elaborated upon, you get just the title and off you go. Part of the magic here is to see how we each interpret the topic in our own personal and unique ways. Also magic is the convergence of thought among singularly creative authors.

We all write blind to each other -- -- we don't see others writing until the deadline when all the submissions arrive. Then we all read each other's interpretations and rejoice both our convergence of thought and the diversity of our inspiration.

This is not a competition, it's a cooperative.  The idea is to stimulate and motivate each other. Instead of winners and losers, the experience here is joyful -- -- it will be hilarious, inspirational, and perhaps even transformative. Having creative writers think in parallel universes about the same topic during the same period will hold many delicious surprises.
